The Detective Skills Your Kids Will Build

Today every answer is one tap away. At the Silver Crane Academy kids have to earn it: 13 puzzles, 15 suspects and only one name that fits every clue.

Deduction

Every solved puzzle clears one suspect. Kids learn to rule things out with proof instead of guesses: the heart of critical thinking.

Sharp Observation

Most answers hide in the 15 portraits on the Academy Roll. Kids learn to slow down and notice what everyone else misses.

Careful Reading

The clues live in the small words. Kids learn to read every line with attention, a habit that pays off in every school subject.

Time & Numbers

Who was where at four o'clock? Clocks, timings and simple maths become the tools of a real investigation.

The story

Fifteen suspects. Thirteen puzzles. One thief.

At exactly four o'clock, the bell rang for the end of training. Five minutes later, Auntie Wren opened the Scroll Room and found the cabinet standing open. The gates had been shut all afternoon: nobody came in, nobody went out. Fifteen people were inside the walls, and one of them is not telling the truth. Master Ito has asked YOU to find out who.

How it works

  1. 1

    Meet everyone

The Academy Roll shows all 15 people inside the walls, each with a portrait and a detail about what they do. Almost every answer is hidden there.

  2. 2

    Solve a puzzle

Each puzzle proves that ONE person was busy somewhere else at four o'clock, so they could not have taken the scroll.

  3. 3

    Cross them off

Strike that name on your Case Sheet and note the puzzle number. After twelve puzzles, only three names are left.

  4. 4

    Crack the case

The last puzzle reveals three things left behind in the Scroll Room. Only one suspect matches them all. CASE CLOSED!

Questions from Parents

How do I get the game?

Right after checkout you receive an email with your download link. Download the PDF, print it at home or at a copy shop, and play the same day. Nothing is shipped.

Can I print it more than once?

Yes. Print it as many times as you like for your own family, for siblings or for a second playthrough. Please don't share or resell the file.

Do I need a colour printer?

Colour gives the best experience because the illustrations are part of the puzzles. Print single-sided on standard A4 paper.

Which paper size?

The PDF is A4. It also prints on US Letter: choose "Fit to page", unless the printing tips above ask for Actual size. At actual size, Letter paper is slightly shorter than A4, so the very top and bottom edges may be trimmed.

What language is it in?

All games are written in English, with short texts designed for ages 8–12. Younger players can team up with a grown-up who reads along.

What if my child gets stuck?

Every game includes the answers for grown-ups, kept at the back so nobody peeks by accident. Ninja Academy, The Lost Pyramid, Starhollow Academy and Wanderwood also include a page of gentle hints.
